Jack Burton is a down on his luck Englishman who is just back from South America runs into one Stuart Northcote a fabulously wealthy business man who currently has a group of assassins' after him.

Apparently the two men looked so much alike they could be twins so Northcote offers Jack a considerable amount of money if they could switch places for three weeks. If Jack is alive after the three weeks then Northcote will give him even more money.

Jack a bit of an adventure hound and needing the money agrees and within 48 hours Jack is almost killed twice. So begins Another Man's Shoes an action/adventure tale that sweeps you along as Jack tries to live another man's life while avoiding being killed.

Victor Bridges, real name Victor George de Freyne, born on 14 March 1878 at Clifton, Bristol, Victor George de Freyne may have been connected with a propertied family in County Sligo, Ireland. He was educated at Haileybury and Imperial Service College. He worked as a bank employee and as an actor in repertory theatre before becoming a full-time writer.

If there were bars on the windows the two-storey Filmer School could be mistaken for a jail. As it is, the brick below the windows is stained from the dripping rain of the years, the front grounds are parched, the trees leafless. It could be autumn or spring, it’s hard to tell. The sense of desertion is everywhere. There is the photographer who took the picture: H.C. Branch of Webster, Mass., his name burned into the lower right-hand corner of the photograph as well as printed below that. In the upper right-hand corner of the photograph the Stars-and-Stripes is waving in the wind - the flag would have been flying atop its pole only when school was in session. That’s what the photograph says. In 1919-1920 Edgar Wallace wrote a series of ten short stories featuring the investigative reporter York Symon for publication in the British monthly The Novel Magazine. In 1928 the series was reprinted in Pearson's Weekly. "The Reporter" is a detective story about a police reporter named Wise Symon and his tricks of the trade.
